JENNY PUT THE KETTLE ON [2]. American, Reel. USA, Missouri. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. This version, collected from a Missouri fiddler, is not related to another Missouri tune by the same title ("Jenny Put the Kettle On (1)), but is a relatively close version of an English Country Dance tune called "<incipit title="load:flintlock" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/Flintlock">Flintlock</incipit>." Bayard (1981) notes that melodic material in the tune derived from the Scottish "<incipit title="load:hastings" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/Marquis of Hastings (The)">Marquis of Hastings (The)</incipit>," "<incipit title="load:loudon" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/Loudon's Bonnie Woods">Loudon's Bonnie Woods</incipit> and Braes," and "Lord/[[Earl of Moira's Welcome to Scotland<incipit title="load:earl" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/Earl of Moira's Welcome to Scotland>Earl of Moira's Welcome to Scotland</incipit>."
