TAILOR'S WEDDING, THE (Banis an Tàiller). AKA and see "Larry Redican's Jig (1)," "Legacy (2) (The)," "Skiver the Quilt." Scottish, Irish; Jig (6/8 time). A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The first strain of "Tailor's Wedding", a jig, and Donegal fiddler John Doherty's hornpipe "Knackers of Navan (The)" are similar in melodic contour and are likely cognate, despite the difference in rhythm. The tune is usually called "The Legacy," especially by County Clare musicians, however it is sometimes name in association with 20th century New York musicians, particularly Larry Redican (fiddle) and Jack Coen (flute).
