OLD BLIND DOG. AKA and see "Old Gray Mare (The)," "Old Yeller Dog." American; Hymn Air, song/reel. USA, Kentucky. A variation of the melody usually called "Old Gray Mare (The)" or "Old Gray Horse Came Tearing Out of the Wilderness." The tune has served as the vehicle for hymns and secular songs, and also goes by the titles "The White Horse" "The Yaller Dog," etc. The tune was recorded by Kentucky-based Jimmy Johnson's String Band in Richmond, Indiana, in August, 1932; biography:Andy Palmer was the fiddler.
