SUGAR IN THE GOURD [2]. American(?), Quickstep (2/4 time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Sugar in the Gourd (2)" is unrelated to other melodies bearing this title, however, it is closely related to the Irish hornpipe "Poor Old Woman (1)" (tSeanbhean Bhocht (An)), AKA "Sean bean boct (1) (An)," "Shan Van Vocht (1) (The)" and other spelling variants. The Irish tune has many variants, some of which are closer to Bruce & Emmett's tune than others.
