SLIGO RAMBLER [2]. AKA and see “Cullen Jig (The),” “Humors of Glynn (1)," “Padraig O'Keeffe's Jig (1).” Irish, Jig (6/8 time). Captain Francis O’Neill recorded the famous stage piper Patsy Tuohey on a cylinder c. 1901-04 playing the tune as a jig under the title “Sligo Rambler.” It is a version of an older air called “Humors of Glen (The)” published by piper O'Farrell in his Pocket Companion for the Irish or Union Pipea vol. 1 (c. 1805), and, in the middle of the century, by John O'Daly and James Mangan in Poets and Poetry of Munster (1850) under the slightly altered spelling "Humors of Glynn (1).” In Sliabh Luachra (County Cork/Kerry) the melody is played as “Cullen Jig (The)” (Port Chuilinn Uí Chaoimh).”
