GIRL I LEFT BEHIND ME [2], THE. English, Sword Dance Tune. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. A variation of "Girl I Left Behind Me (1) (The)", from the Kirkby Malzeard, Yorkshire, England, where it was employed as the accompaniment to a sword dance. The tune (as "Kirkby Malzeard sword dance" with the alternate title "Girl I Left Behind Me") was recorded in 1915 by the Victor Band in Camden, New Jersey. According to the Victor ledgers for the session the band was "19 extra men (full band) personally supervised by Cecil J. Sharp."
