SMITH'S HORNPIPE [3]. American, Hornpipe (2/4 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. As with several tunes from the Boston-published Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883), the hornpipe found its way into American Midwest "old-time" repertory, probably via musically literate fiddlers who had a copy.
