HIBERNIA. Irish, Air (6/8 time) or Jig (6/8 time). C Major (Manson): D Major (Goodman): A Major (Kennedy). Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Goodman, Manson): AABBAACAABB (Kennedy). A note in Manson's Hamilton's Universal... (1853) indicates the tune is "a favourite Irish air." The tune appears twice in the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper Canon biography:James Goodman, although from the context of tunes on the same page and contiguous pages, it would seem Goodman obtained the tune from Scottish sources.
