A 'Monfreda' is another way of saying 'Monferinna', a type of Italian country dance that was popular for a time in England during the Napoleonic era. "Monfreda" was published c. 1810 on a two-sheet issue by Robert Purdie in Edinburgh, as one of four "fashionable new dances" along with Euphemia Murray's strathspey "Pitthieveless Castle."
