GATEHOUSE MAID [2], THE. AKA - "Sean Maguire's." AKA and see "Butter and Peas." Irish, Reel. G Major/E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB: AABB (McGuire & Keegan). Fr. John Quinn finds the first strain to be a derivative of "<incipit title="load:gunn" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/Mrs. Gunn's Strathspey">Mrs. Gunn's Strathspey</incipit>," printed in London by John Gow in the very early 19th century. Fr. Quinn finds the first strain of "Gatehouse Maid (2)" is shared with "Miss Gunnon" in County Leitrim piper and fiddler biography:Stephey Grier's c. 1883 music manuscript collection.
