CANTEEN CALL, THE. AKA and see "French Taptoo," "Old Drummer's Delight." English, Air. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. biography:Elias Howe (c. 1867) categorizes the tune among the 'songs' section. It is probably derived from the Bourree in George Frideric Handel's Water Music Suite 2, composed in 1717. It was printed by James Aird in 1785 as "French Taptoo." Howe also gives "Old Drummer's Delight" as an alternate title.
