DICKSON COUNTY BLUES [1]. AKA - "Dickson County Blues No. 1.," "Dixon County Blues." Old-Time, Breakdown. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Arthur Smith, and one of his more popular recording (although the record label issued it as 'Dixon', not 'Dickson' county). The title refers to Dickson County, north-central Tennessee (just west of Nashville), where the fiddler lived. Collector Bob Christeson recorded champion Burt County, east Nebraska, fiddler Bob Walters playing the tune in 1950, but remarked it was the only time he heard the tune in his collecting experience. It would seem Walters learned it from Arthur Smith's recording.
