MARQUIS OF HUNTLY'S REEL [3]. Scottish, Reel. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The first strain of this tune is shared with an untitled reel in Book 2 (Grier No. 242) of the large c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim fiddler and piper biography:Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894). The first strain of Alexander's tune is also similar to, but not cognate with "Marquis of Huntly's Strathspey (1) (The)," AKA "Marquis of Huntly's Highland Fling (2)," "Marquis of Huntley's Reel (The)," "Marquis of Huntly's Reel (The)," "Huntly in Aberdeenshire."
