LADY DALRYMPLE HAMILTON’S REEL. Scottish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Attributed to fiddler-composer Biography:John French (1752–1803) of Cumnock, Ayrhshire. The title refers probably to Jane Duncan (1779–1852), later Lady Dalrymple-Hamilton, daughter of Adam Duncan, 1st Viscount Duncan (1731–1804), the hero of the victory over the Dutch at Camerdon (1797). In 1800, at age 21, she married Lieut. Col. Sir Hew Hamilton-Dalrymple 4th Bt. of North Berwick.
