BOFFMAN'S REEL. D Major. Learned by Seattle fiddler Stuart Williams from MidWest fiddler Bob Fast, who had moved to Oregon. Fast was the nephew of Nebraska fiddler Uncle Bob Walter(s), who was the source for so many of the tunes in R.P. Christeson's Old Time Fiddler's Repertory. The melody is that of the Scandinavian walking tune Gardebylåten. However, it is also similar in parts to Bill Monroe's c. 1969 composition "Land of Lincoln."
