Anniversary Song,a.k.a. Anniversary Waltz, Waves of the Danube, Donauwellen, Chasene Waltz. Romanian bandleader and composer Iosif Ivanovici wrote his seven-part waltz "Donauwellen" ("Waves of the Danube") in 1880. In 1946 Al Jolson and Saul Chaplin wrote words for the first two parts of that waltz and published it as "Anniversary Song." In 1947 a Yiddish version by Chaim Tauber and Henry Lefkowitch was published as "Der Chasene Waltz." The melody is played by many fiddlers for dances and contests.
