BOOK OF RIGHTS, THE (Leabar na g-Ceart). AKA - "Rights of an Irishman (The)." Irish, Double Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Paul de Grae notes that O'Neill's title (Book of Rights) belongs to a Irish medieval manuscript. The tune appears in the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper Canon biography:James Goodman under the title “Rights of an Irishman (The).” County Leitrim fiddler and piper biography:Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894) entered a version of the tune in Book 3 of his c. 1883 music manuscript collection as "Jackson's."

Source for notated version : - Edward Cronin [O'Neill]. Edward Cronin was a fiddler originally from County Tipperary, and was a member of the Chicago Irish Music Club at the turn of the 20th century.
