"Price of the Pig" is contained in the latter 19th century music manuscript collection of fiddler Patrick O'Farrell, of Ballinamuck, County Longford (No. 60). Researcher Conor Ward finds cognate melodies in the James Goodman manuscript as "Dougarry Boys (The)", and in Books 3 and 5 of County Leitrim piper and fiddler biography:Stephen Grier's c. 1883 music manuscript as an untitled jig (Book 5, No 57, and Book 3, No. 87, p. 35). "King of the Pipers (2)" is a similar tune, as is "Humors of Glynn." The similarly-titled "Price of My Pig (The)" is a different tune.
