MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS [2]. Irish, Hornpipe (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Mary Queen of Scots [2]" is contained in Book 3 of the large c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim fiddler and piper biography:Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894). Grier researchers Fr. John Quinn and Conor Ward find the tune cognate with the triple-meter "Mary Scott," "Planxty Scott (2)" and the Scottish "Smith's a Gallant Fireman (The)."
