NEW RIGGED SHIP [2], DA. AKA - "The New Riggit Ship," "Full Rigged Ship (1) (Da)." Shetland, Shetland Reel. Shetland, (Island of) Walls. A Dorian/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part (Anderson): ABB' (Martin & Hughes). "A traditional reel from the playing of the late Peter Fraser of Finnigarth, Waas. The tune celebrates the rigging out with new sails and mast of a fishing boat, which the owner proudly calls a ship" (Anderson, 1983). Scots fiddlers generally play the tune in a medley with "Full Rigged Ship (2) (Da)."
Peter Fraser, Finnigarth
