KITTY O'HEA. AKA and see "Ellen O'Grady." Irish, Air (9/8 time). Ireland, Co. Donegal. E Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Caoimhin Mac Aoidh (1994) identifies the source as William Allingham of Donegal, who contributed several airs to the Petrie collection. While the tune was used as the melody for a rare broadsheet ballad by Allingham, Mac Aoidh states it makes a very nice slip jig. O'Neill (1903) prints the tune as a slip jig under the title "Ellen O'Grady." The tune appears as an untitled slip jig in the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork uilleann piper and Church of Ireland cleric James Goodman [1]. The first part of this tune is also used for the English song "Sorry the Day I Was Married" (Roud 1561).
