Noah Beavers was born 2 November 1897 in Williamson Co. IL, a son of George Washington Beavers (1855-1952) and Eliza Furlow (1857-1941). He worked as a farmer, a coal miner and carpenter during his life. He died 20 February 1990 in Elkville, Jackson Co, IL. He was the source for 19 of the tunes included in Dear Old Illinois by Garry Harrison and Jo Burgess. Noah sang this odd little verse: "Jump in the well my pretty little miss; Jump in the well my honey. Jump in the well my pretty little miss; I'll see you again next Sunday."
