SWEET EVALINA. AKA - "Dear Evelina," "Sweet Evalina." American, Waltz and Song Tune (3/4 time). USA; Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABB. "Dear Evalina" was a song by an unknown author, first published in New York by E.A. Daggett in 1863. It was widely known, and told of love, poverty and separation which resonated in a time of national conflict. The title appears in a list of traditional Ozarks Mountains fiddle tunes compiled by musicologist/folklorist Vance Randolph, published in 1954.
