MRS. CAMPBELL ARDMORE'S REEL. Scottish, Reel (cut time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Mrs. Campbell of Ardmore's Reel" was composed by Islay fiddler-composer biography:Alexander Mackay (born 1775), probably for Helen Campbell of Ardmore (1769-?), the spouse of Archibald Campbell. Mackay composed tunes for the entire Campbell of Ardmore family, including children, all of which appear in his A Collection of Reels, Strathspeys and Slow Tunes (c. 1822). See note for "annotation:Mr. Archibald Campbell Ardmore's Reel" for more on Mackay and the family.
