GRANT LAMB'S BREAKDOWN. AKA and see "Brid Harper's," "Denis Langtot's," "Dermot Byrne's Hornpipe." Canadian, Breakdown. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Manitoba farmer and fiddler Grant Lamb (1915-)in 1952. The tune has made an amazing transition through oral transmission into a number of genres. After being played by Canadian fiddler Dennis Langtot in a session in Ottawa in the mid-1980's it was picked up by Irish fiddler Brid Harper (with the thought it might have been French-Canadian in origin), and from there entered Irish tradition.
