THATCHED CABIN, THE. AKA and see “Jackson's Drum,” “Paddy from Portlaw.” Irish, Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune usually appears in printed collections (e.g. O'Neill's Music of Ireland, 1903) and on recordings as “Paddy from Portlaw.” It can also found in the manuscripts of Dublin dentist and collector Henry Hudson (1798-1889) as "Jackson's Drum".
