IRISH LOTTERY [1]. English, Country Dance Tune (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The "Irish Lottery" first appeared in two London periodicals in the year 1753; R. Baldwin's The London Magazine, or the Gentleman's Monthly Intelligencer, and Sylvannus Urban's The Gentleman's Magazine and Historical Chronicle. Subsequently it was published in John Johnson's 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 7 (London, 1756) and Charles and Samuel Thompson's 1757 country dance collection.
