"Air [39]" forms the second figure of Montrose and Aberdeen dancing master and musician biography:Archibald Duff's "Pas Seul (11)", a suite of tunes presumably choreographed by Duff as a showcase for his female dance students (and himself). Pas seul means 'solo dance', and Duff arranged a number of these suites in his c. 1812 collection, along with the names of his students. In this case, "Pas Seul (11)" was for "Miss Helen Hadden."
