MRS. HOUSTON OF ROSEHALL'S FAVORITE. Scottish, Strathspey. D Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Nathaniel Gow (1763-1831). Rosehall is an estate and Georgian manor house in the heart of northern Scotland that still stands, although abandoned and in need of much repair. It was built in the 1780’s and is located in Sutherland, on the bands of the River Cassley, southeast of Invercassley in Sutherland. The home was destroyed by a fire in 1822, before Nathaniel Gow died (but long after he penned his compostion), but was rebuilt.
