ADRAIN'S REEL. American, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Adrian's Reel" is from the playing of Missouri fiddler Fred Stoneking (1933-2009), born Chilhowee, Johnson County, Missouri. The hornpipe was also in the repertory fiddlers Pete McMahon and Dwight Lamb, and was also played by Fred's father, Lee Stoneking (1907-1989), a farmer who was among the best fiddlers of his generation in west central Missouri (recorded in the field playing the tune in the 1970's). It may, however, have been named for Iowa fiddler Fred Adreon (1871-1949), who was the source for "Adrian's Hornpipe."
