CHASE [1], THE. AKA and see "Chace (1) (The)." Scottish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Glen (1891) finds the tune earliest in print in Joshua Campbell's 1778 collection (p. 15), while Charles Gore finds the earliest printing to be in John Hamilton's A Choice Coll. of Scots Reels, or Country Dances and Strathspeys (n.d.). It was included by Kirkmichael, Perthshire, fiddler Robert Petrie in his Second Collection of Strathspey Reels and Country Dances (1796, p. 20).
