John McKenna (flute) & James Morrison (fiddle) with unknown piano recorded "My Love is but a Lassie / The Dark Girls Dressed in Blue- Polkas" in NYC in September 1928 (W 109740-2) released as Columbia 33296-F & Vocalion 84136. It was reissued on "The Pure Genius of James Morrison," Shanachie 33004, LP (1978). It was not called "Tripping on the Mountain" on this record. However, I just noticed that in the same session, McKenna & Morrison recorded "Thady Regan / Trippin' on the Mountain," the latter being a variant of "My Love is but a Lassie" (W 109743-2) released as Columbia 33296-F & Vocalion 84089. It was reissued on "The Buck from the Mountain: The Music & Life of John McKenna," John McKenna Society MCKSOC002, double CD & booklet (2014).
