SAIL IN BOYS. American, Hornpipe or Reel (2/4 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Sail in Boys" was first printed in George F. Coes' Coes Album of Jigs and Reels (1876). Coes was an east coast blackface minstrel active in California in the 1850's, who also travelled to Australia for a tour. While he did not compose this hornpipe/reel, it must have reminded him of his sea voyages prior to the building of the transcontinental railroad in the 1860's.
