"Miss Baird of Saughton Hall (1)" was attributed by the Gows to Mrs. Robertson of Ladykirk (for whom see John Gow’s strathspey “Mrs. Robertson of Ladykirk’s Favorite”), although Joseph Lowe gave the composer as Mr. Robertson of Ladykirk. The person of the title, Miss Baird of Saughton Hall, was herself a composer (see Annotation:Miss Baird of Saughtonhall (2)).
