TRIP TO CARLISLE, A. English, Country Dance Tune and Jig (6/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. "Trip to Carlisle" was first printed in London by music publishers Charles and Samuel Thompson in their Compleat Collection, vol. 2 (1765). The melody was entered by Northumbrian musician William Vickers into his large c. 1770 music manuscript collection.
