TRIP TO GUADALOUP, A. English, Country Dance Tune (cut time). E Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody is unique to London publisher Charles and Samuel Thompson’s 1765 country dance collection. There are several West Indian themed tunes in the Thompson’s volumes, such as “Trip to Martinico (A)” (Martinique), and probably have to do with trips to plantations.
