WANDERING BOY. American, Air (4/4 time). USA, western North Carolina. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune is sourced to the 1927 solo fiddle recording by Dobson, Surry County, North Carolina, fiddler and banjo player Frank Jenkins (1888-c.1945) of the group Da Costa Woltz's Southern Broadcasters. The group recorded only one time, in Richmond, Indiana, cutting 18 sides over a few days. The Carter Family recorded a song called "Wandering Boy," but it employs a distanced melody from Jenkins'.
