First published in London publishers Charles and Samuel Thompson's Twenty Four Country Dances for the Year 1765 (No. 7, p. 4) and later in their Compleat Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances (vol. 4, 1780). It also appears in the music manuscript collection of Somerset shoemaker and fiddler William Winter (1774-1861). Northumbrian musician William Vickers included it in his 1770 music manuscript collection under the title "Bristol Lasses" [1].
