This melody was collected by Jim & Julia Olin, members of the Original Missouri Corn Dodgers, from Uncle Bunk Williams in the 1970s. Bunk Williams was born in Reynolds Co, MO in 1890 and died about 1978. My buddies the Allen Street String Band of Springfield, IL, recorded this on their 1st self-produced, eponymous cassette in the 1970s. The group was Bill Rintz, Dave Landreth, Ed Hawkes and others at this time. I learned the tune in the 1970s from these sources and the Bunk Williams field recording.
