FLOWER LASS, THE. American, Jig (6/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The 6/8 time jigs in the Pepper collection are all labelled "Irish Jig" to differentiate them from the "straight jig", a duple-time, lightly syncopated, dance tune like a reel. The Pepper 6/8 jigs are not from actual Irish sources, with a few exceptions, but are probably American journeyman compositions in the style.
