HABBIE'S HOW. Scottish, Strathspey. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Very Old," states Gow. Habbie's How is a spot on Glencross Burn, at the head of a glen some twelve miles outside of Edinburgh, near Penicuick . It has long been supposed the setting of poet Allan Ramsay's Gentle Shepherd, with a small picturesque waterfall that empties into a pool.
