MAJOR [1], THE. AKA - "Magar." English, Scottish; Jig (6/8 time). England, Northumberland. G Mixolydian (Seattle/Vickers): G Major (Bruce & Stokoe): A Major (Kerr). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Kerr, Bruce & Stokoe): AABBCCDDEE (Vickers). The tune is similar to the Irish "Mooncoin Jig (The)." See "Major (3) (The)" for a more closely related variant to the Irish tune that predates Vickers' entry.
