HAPPY MARRIAGE, THE. English, Jig (6/8 or 6/4 time). D Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. "The Happy Marriage" appears in Henry Playford's Second Part of the Dancing Master (London, 1698, 9th edition) and in all subsequent editions through the end of the series, with the 18th edition in 1728. John Walsh also published it in his Compleat Country Dancing Master (London, 1718, and in subsequent editions published in 1731 and 1754).
