CAPTAIN MENZIES (CARR-BRIDGE). Scottish, Reel (cut time). A Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Captain Menzies" was composed by Aberdeenshire fiddler-composer and dancing master wikipedia:James_Scott_Skinner (1843-1927). Captain Menzies of Carrbridge, Inverness-shire, was a gentleman farmer, and a one-time judge at a fiddle competition mentioned by Skinner in his posthumously published autobiography[1]:

There were eleven entries from all parts, including Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Six country gentlemen were the judges--namely Cluny MacPherson, Rodrick Kemp (Talisker), Captain Menzies (Carrbridge), Rev. Dr. MacGregor, Major Rose, and W.F. Wisdom (secretary).
