BARNEY O'NEILL (Brian Ua Neill). AKA and see "Doctor O'Neill (2)." Irish, Double Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The jig is a member of the "Young Tim Murphy," "Kitty Lie Over" tune family. A variant appears in the mid-19th century James Goodman (1828-1896, County Cork) manuscripts under the title "Doctor O'Neill," and, still earlier, a version under the title "Brian O'Niel" in the 1838 music copybook of Lake District (northwest England) musician William Irwin.
