The tune was entered into the 1799 music manuscript collection of musician Elias Boynton (Peppered, Mass.). County Cork uilleann piper and Church of Ireland cleric wikipedia:James_Goodman_(musicologist) (1828-1896) entered the tune, copied from Aird's 1782 publication, into his large mid-19th century music manuscript collection.
