SOAPSUDS OVER THE FENCE [4]. American, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This "Soapsuds over the Fence," different from other tunes of the same name but related in the first strain to some Appalachian versions of "Durang's Hornpipe" (e.g. see John Salyer's "Durang's Hornpipe (4)"), is from the playing of William Mosses "Mose" Coffman (1905-1994), of Lewisburg, Greenbrier County, southeast West Virginia.
