HARE'S MAGGOT. AKA and see "Up with Aily." English, Country Dance Tune (3/2 time). A Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. One meaning of maggot is for a dram, a unit of liquid measure, but the musical meaning may stem from the word's derivation from the Italian word maggioletta, or a plaything. The melody was published in 1701.
