'TIT MAURICE (Little Maurice). AKA - "Valse de 'Tit Maurice." Cajun, Waltz (3/4 time). USA, southwestern Louisiana. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. According to Raymond Francois (1990), the song was named for a nightclub in Vatican, near Bosco, Louisiana, about twelve miles northeast of Rayne. Related songs include Dennis McGee's "Valse d'Amour (2)" and "Valse de Coteau Magnolia," Austin Pitre's "Chinaball Blues," Rufus Thibodeaux's "Basile Waltz" and Jimmy Newman's "Valse de Grand Basile."
