TO AN OLD ROSE. American, Waltz (3/4 time). A Major ('A' part) & D Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). ABB. Composed in the 1970's by North Dakota fiddler Joe Pancerzewski (-1991), the “Fiddling Engineer", in honor of an old "Peace Rose" bush in Seattle musicians and entrepreneurs Phil and Vivian Williams' backyard. Phil Williams adds, "'Old roses' are not merely ancient members of the common 'modern' varieties but specific pre-1867 varieties and cultivars"[1].
